Fantastic news:

Desmond Child wrote some songs for the new Meat Loaf album "Bat Out Of Hell III - The Monster Is Loose" and also produced it.

The album will be released end of October and a long world wide Meat Loaf tour will follow.

For so many years it´s been a dream of mine ... Desmond Child and Jim Steinman work together ... finally this dream came true. Exciting!

There are rumours saying the the good old Desmond Child & Rouge albums will be re-released! Wow, sounds great!

Great news:

Paul Stanley Solo Album - "It's Magic"

Paul Stanley checked in with KISSONLINE and chatted briefly about his upcoming solo album.

The album should be done and ready to mix by mid May. Drumming on all the tracks to date is Victor Indruzzo who has toured and recorded with Macy Gray, toured with Beck and appears on various recordings by the Matrix production team. Most of the guitars have been handled by Corky James who also is heard on various recordings by the Matrix team including Avril Lavigne. In talking about their contributions Paul raved, "Victor is just an amazing drummer who can bash with the best of them while keeping a great groove going." As for James, he added "Corky just blows me away with his parts and sounds." As far as bass..."I've always been a big fan of Bruce Kulick's bass playing so it's great to have him on some of the album." Keyboards have been handled by Russ Irwin who has toured with both Sting and Aerosmith. "I've known Russ for over 15 years before the KISS/Aerosmith tour happened and his being a part of the project seemed like a natural".Of course all the vocals are handled by Paul. A few of the tracks recorded include "Wake Up Screaming," "Second To None" and "Live To Win."

Paul has been collaborating with Andreas Carlsson and for the first time in 15 or so years, Desmond Child and said, "It's magic." Paul went on to add, "From the songs to the playing and singing, everything about this album is consistent without compromise. The album is exactly who I am now and what I want to be doing. It's got all the sides of what I do, so it's not surprising that it's got elements of everything I've done plus a leap into the 21st century. I don't need to hype it. I'll leave that to everyone else who's heard it."

Hello, everyone!

We are a bit tardy with this news but desmond-child.com is now located at http://www.desmondchild.charisma-fx.com. The reason for the move is we at Charisma-FX have come to a point where we really need to concentrate on other things. 

"The First Unofficial Desmond Child Fan Site" was developed early on as a combination fun project and prototype web site that could be shown to prospective clients. We later were commissioned to do kane-roberts.com and since Mr. Roberts is a very exacting person with strong ideas as to how he wants things to look the resulting site far eclipsed anything else we had done to date. As such, it has become the site we point people to as an example of the endless possibilities available for a site with unique graphics and style.

This said, we clearly aren't doing justice to the Desmond Child site at this point in time. We feel, if possible, it is time to pass the torch to somebody who can continue desmond-child.com in the fine tradition we have tried to keep for it since 1990.

The domain desmond-child.com and all content for "The First Unofficial Desmond Child Fan Site" is therefore for sale. While we understand there is only a limited market for this site and we can never recoup expenses for all the hours put into creating the site with it's many sound files, lyrics, etc . . . we feel we should be able to recoup a small percentage of costs with this sale.

The opening bid for the entire package will be $500.00 in U.S funds or equivalent Euro. Send your bids to desmonarch@charisma-fx.com. Claudia Channing, founder of Charisma-FX, will accept bids until August 31, 2004, at which time the high bid will be awarded ownership of the site. If there is no qualifying bid, the site will remain where it is but continue to be available for sale and there will be contact information provided in case somebody decides they are interested. It is doubtful there will be further newsletters in any case unless a new owner of the site decides to continue with them.

Once a successful bid is made for sale, Claudia will e-mail the successful bidder with instructions for where to send their cashier's check. Once the transaction is successful, Claudia will e-mail the new owner the ID for accessing the domain registry at Network Solutions and either Antoinette Avalon or Claudia will call or snail mail (owner's choice) the password. Once the ID and password have been given to the new owner they will be able to sign in to Network Solutions and change the contact information for the domain. Claudia will also mail a CD Rom to the new owner containing all content for the site. Once the new owner has possession of the Network Solutions information and the CD Rom the sale will be considered final and we at Charisma-FX will wish them luck with their future endeavors for the site.

As a footnote, please remember that any web site also requires that the owner obtain a space to post it on the internet and the new owner of desmond-child.com will be required to do this on their own. Charisma-FX is not including web hosting with the transfer of the domain and sale of site content.

In closing, just let us say that it has been a real pleasure getting to know so many of Desmond's fans and friends!

A yet unreleased track in the new box set by KISS is a song co-written by Desmond Child and Paul Stanley called "Time Traveler".

Desmond Child will colaborate with famous greek pop star Sakis Rouvas!  He is producing/writing his new CD in Miami.  He went to Crete Island in Greece last September to negotiate this collaboration.  He seemed to be really excited about it on an interview on ALPHA TV.

Sebastian Bach will record a ballad he wrote with Desmond Child when his stint in Broadway's "Rocky Horror Picture Show" is done.

The diverse talents of Mark Hudson (Aerosmith), country songwriter Gary Burr, Desmond Child and Richie Sambora came together to write the song "Take On Me".  This song was recorded for the soundtrack of the movie "On The Line" which will be shown in US cinemas.  According to Sambora, "It's much different than what Bon Jovi sounds like.  "Take On Me" has got rhythm and blues as well as Steve Winwood influences and it's a very powerful song."

Tina Arena has been working with Desmond Child and Nile
Rodgers.  

Australia's biggest selling female artist has recorded the Child penned/Rodgers produced song "Soul Mate #9" for her forthcoming album "Just Me".

Rodgers, the founding member of the 70's disco act Chic, has also produced David Bowie, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Bryan Ferry, Mick Jagger, Al Jarreau, Philip Bailey, Sister Sledge and Diana Ross.

Tina recently returned to Australia to film the video with local director Bart Borghesi.
 
The album "Just Me" will be released in Australia in November, Europe before Christmas and the rest of the world early 2002.

Rimes Ends Dispute, Re-Signs With Curb

After a year of battling in court to be free of the contract she signed with Curb Records at age 12, LeAnn Rimes has made the surprising decision to re-sign with the label, Billboard Bulletin reports. "We're thrilled that we've come to a new agreement with LeAnn and anxious to start a brand-new chapter in our relationship," Curb chairman Mike Curb tells Bulletin. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"I am looking forward to continuing to evolve creatively and professionally as an artist, but more important, I am really excited to be able to share my new music with the fans," Rimes tells Bulletin. She has been working on a project with writer/producer Desmond Child that Curb hopes to release next year.

Last November, shortly after turning 18, Rimes filed a lawsuit seeking to terminate the recording contract she and her parents signed with Curb in 1995. In March, a Nashville judge refused to break the contract; she later appealed the decision.

On Monday, Rimes withdrew the last of her litigation against Curb in the Tennessee courts, clearing the way for the new deal. Rimes has not yet settled a lawsuit pending against her father, Wilbur Rimes, who is also her former producer and co-manager. Also pending is her father's countersuit against LeAnn Rimes Entertainment Inc. Earlier this year, the singer settled a lawsuit against her former co-manager, Lyle Walker.

Desmond Child song to be on next Kane Roberts release!

Desmond Child has co-written a new song with Kane Roberts for Kane’s new album that is still in the works.  If the work Kane and Desmond did on “Saints and Sinners” is any indication, this track should be one of the best on the new album!

Tina Arena of France is expected back in Australia for the last 3 months of the year when her next album is scheduled to be released. It will be produced by Nile Rodgers of Chic fame with some cuts by UK based Peter Vetesse, who worked with Annie Lennox on her DIVA album. Arena collected 50 songs co-written with Desmond Child, Robbie Nevil and Mark Hudson as well as a collection of French writers.

Kane Roberts song "Twisted" from his "Saints and Sinners" CD, which was co-written by Desmond Child, will be featured in the new movie "R o c k s t a r" that is slated to open September 14, 2001 in the U.S.A.  The song is expected to be re-recorded by Mikey Steel (formerly known as Michael Matijevic), lead vocalist for the band Steelheart.  Mikey has an incredible voice and it will be interesting to hear his interpretation of this song.  With the Kane Roberts/Desmond Child combined writing effort on the song and Steel's voice, it should be a genuine treat for all who hear it.  We'll keep you posted on further news about "Rockstar" as it develops!

Better late than never . . . we found out that Desmond Child produced and co-wrote a song with the one hit wonder band Baha Man, known for the song "Who Let The Dogs Out" . . . hu hu hu ;-).  The song is called "You Can Get It" and the album was released in 2000.

Desmond Child is also the engineer for some of the songs on the Rosie O´Donnell Christmas album "Another Rosie Christmas", released in 2000.  There you can find singers like Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony and Barry Manilow.  Desmond Child colleague Robi Rosa also produced some of it.

A Turkey radio station broadcast a special about Desmond Child on the first weekend of November y2k.  The host informed me that it was a great pleasure and that they mostly used the information of this fansite and mentioned it several times.  Let me welcome all the new visitors from Turkey!  At the end of the day the gave away the "Discipline" album to one of the lucky listeners.

In my opinion this was a wonderful and exemplary idea to honor that outstanding songwriter, composer, producer, singer . . .
 

Happy Birthday !!!

Sensational news!  "She Bangs", the new single cd of Ricky Martin was composed by Robi Rosa, Walter Afanasieff and Desmond Child.  It is the first single of Ricky Martin's new album which will be released early November 2000.  The premiere of the single was in the US on Sept. 8th and in Europe it will be today, Sept. 20th.!
 
 

We have been informed that Desmond Child created the English lyrics for the Spanish song "Baila La Rumba" now "Magic Carpet Ride".  MDO, better known as Menudo (where Ricky Martin and Marc Anthony started) sing that version on the latest Walt Disney Record "La Vida Mickey".  There are also cover versions of "Livin´ La Vida Loca" ("La Vida Mickey") and "(Mickey's) Cup Of Life".  A new star, Myra, who is only 13 years old performs "La Vida Mickey".  Narada Michael Walden (produced also W. Houston, M. Carey, A. Franklin) has high praise for her, "She's got it, she's a star" he is quoted.  By the way, you can also find the new version of the smash hit "Mamboo No. 5" of the German vocalist Lou Bega there.
 
 

We have learned the song "Jewel In My Crown" (Chynna Philips) was also recorded by Robin Beck who already released several Desmond Child songs in her long career (probably Nov. 1999).
 
 

Yeah, Mitch Malloy is back in the studio and hopefully soon his 3rd cd will be released and he is working with Desmond Child again!!! (here is a pic)
 
 

There is a new release by Billie Myers.  The cd is titled "Vertigo" and there you can find the Desmond Child track "A Room Full of View".  It is a kind of ballad and sounds like Child's work on her previous album "Growing Pains".
 
 

We forgot to let you know!  Try to get the Japanese version of Kane Roberts' Phoenix Down project "Under A Wild Sky".  Here you can find "You Always Want It", heard before on "Saints And Sinners",  Kane Roberts, 1991.

A reliable report says that Desmond Child co-wrote the following song of the new Bon Jovi CD "Crush", "One Wild Night".  We hope you like it!
 
 

More news about the French project.  The CD of the French boy group 2B3 was released on June 2nd, its title is "Excuse My French" and is co-written by Desmond Child among others but not produced by him.
 
 

It would appear Desmond Child cowrote the new Bon Jovi smash "It's My Life".  How can you tell?  Easy, just listen closely and you will hear ". . . Tommy and Gina never backed down . . ." you remember?!?  YEAH!  "Tommy used to work on the docks . . . Gina worked the diner all day . . . Livin' on a prayer . . ." so, they seem to be alive and well.  Another indication is the sound and style of the song.  No one except Desmond Child can make Bon Jovi sound like that!!!  The album release date will be on May 29th . . . with hopefully more Desmond Child cowritten songs on it.
 
 

Ricky Martin was nominated for 3 Grammys!

Best Pop Album of the year ("Ricky Martin"), best single of the year ("Livin' La Vida Loca"), best composition of the year ("Livin' La Vida Loca") but for some strange reason he didn't get any Grammy at all.
 
 

It is reported that Desmond Child is now working in Miami with a French boy group known as 2B3.  They enjoyed great success in France 2 or 3 years ago but they didn't know how to sing. LOL.  So, Desmond Child and Diane Warren wrote songs for them and the release of the album is planned for May 2000.  There even were even pictures in French TV magazines.

Desmond Child started to work in Bearsville Studios in Woodstock, NY with the Australian singer Gyan who signed to his new record company Deston Entertainment.
 
 

To commemorate his Aunt Olga Buillot's 60 years in show, she's the queen of bolero, Child is planning to record a special album.  "I grew up listening to the boleros my mother wrote and my aunt sang.  She's had a lot to do with my musical education", he said.  As a Cuban American whose family had to leave their country to escape oppression, Child thinks music can have a political dimension.  "It's important for us who live in a free country to help those who live in dictatorships and don't have the strength or spirit to achieve their freedom.  I think music is a message of liberation and humanity that reaches all corners of the word".
 
 

NY/NY Internationally acclaimed songwriter/producer Desmond Child has signed an exclusive long term deal with PolyGram Music Publishing Group (PMPG).  This announcement was made today by Desmond Child, along with PMPG President, David Simoné.

Under the agreement, which takes effect immediately, PolyGram will co-own and exclusively administer the worldwide copyrights to all of Child's future material.  PMPG previously acquired Child's existing catalogue of over 400 compositions.

Commented David Simoné, "Undoubtedly, Desmond will continue to write classic songs, enhancing his already invaluable catalogue.  I am thrilled we were able to extend our professional relationship and I really enjoy working closely with both Desmond and Winston Simoné (his manager).  Desmond is certainly one of today's most talented songwriters, with new songs being released this year by Aerosmith, Jon Bon Jovi, Hanson, Robbie Williams and many others.  We will actively work to expand Desmond's involvement in many new projects."
